Greetings Master Claws,
I located Raz to report my findings in the Monastery. He told me I should seek out the Kinlady to assess the precise nature her involvement with the Aldarch. He even lent me an elegant outfit and official invitation to see her at a meeting of the local leaders. It was quite the posh party by all accounts. There was a courtyard with an ornate fountain, as well as servants taking care of food and beverages.
I met with the Aldarch himself. He seems just as charming as I would expect from a stuck up speciesist. He kept calling me a “nebarra” which is slang for “Unwelcome”. That is what he considers us newcomers to be.
To say we got off on the wrong foot is an understatement to feet. Rather than press the issue and likely find myself at the wrong end of some noble’s wrath I decided to leave the party and seek out the Kinlady herself. I found her inside, and she was also less than pleased to see me.
She eventually conceded that she may have made an error when she recommended the Aldarch though. As it would appear that there is no record of his existence before her meeting him.
If that doesn’t sound suspicious, I don’t know what does. Based on her reactions, I felt she didn’t appear to be involved directly with whatever nefarious plans the Aldarch had. I suggested she go check out the monastery herself to see what’s going on for herself.
On my way out of the house, I overheard her plans to go meet up with the Aldarch in the Coral Forest. While reporting this all to Raz, Val showed up and we all decided to head to the Coral Forest.
After some searching around, we managed to locate the Aldarch. Who then attacked us! Since I’m the one writing to you and not the Aldarch, I’ll let you figure out who ended up tasting the pointy end of the stick! We also found another of those pearls. They seem to be all over this island.
As he perished, the Aldarch invoked the name of the Prince of Bargains, Clavicus Vile. A Daedric Prince! What have I gotten myself involved with?!?
The Kinlady seems rather upset, and who can blame her. She may have a difficult time explaining to the queen exactly how she let a Daedric cult member murder the people that the queen herself invited to the island.
Val headed off to Arteum to study the pearl we found. She also invited me to visit her there so I could confirm her story. Travel to an island that’s been removed from reality. Who could resist such an offer? Certainly not I.
That’s where I’m off to next. Arteum. I’ll send word as my journey continues, and will attempt to reach you in person as soon as I am able.
